The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) was established in 2005 as a merger of the port-related responsibilities of different authorities in Hamburg as an institution under public law. With approx. 1.800 employees, the HPA operates an efficient port management from a single source and point of contact for all issues of water and land-based infrastructure, the safety of shipping, the port railway facilities, real estate management and economic conditions in the port.
